Nov. 26th, 2006 01:49 amI walked over to the mall and its environs twice today, and it was actually kind of nice. The first time I hit Target and got some household stuff, and then the second time I went to the fancy paper store in the mall to get my Christmas cards. Both trips were successful, and because I walked, I wasn't stressed out about traffic (which was terrible right near the mall) and parking (which was even worse) and could just get the things I needed and head on my way without dealing with too much stupidity. If only all shopping expeditions could be like these.
The mall walkways have exploded with not only specialty kiosks, but tables overflowing from the anchor stores laden with gift sets to tempt the indecisive shopper. I actually like Christmas shopping although I don't often have the money to do it up right, but having to squeeze my way through the extra narrow walkways gets old really fast. That, and getting asked every twenty steps if I need any help finding anything. I'm going to try to do as much of my gift shopping as possible at the Urban Craft Uprising sale, so I'm hoping to avoid the more unpleasant aspects of gift-getting and focus on the fun part, which is deciding which items would delight the people on my list best.
