Jul. 2nd, 2007 04:52 pmBack from Sacramento where I had a fantastic time playing roller derby. Those girls are so nice. I took a rather spectacular spill, and now I think I need to go to the chiropractor, and I have the usual bumps and bruises. I also got a tattoo of my number just below the skate on my left arm, so I don't have to write it in sharpie on myself anymore for the bouts. It's in the same style as the skate, so they look good together. It is a little strange to have 42 permanently inscribed in my arm, and quite a few people looked at me quizzically when they saw it, but I only feel a little silly, which I'm sure will go away soon. It is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything, after all. Who wouldn't want that as a tattoo? (Perhaps someone who is not a nerd.)
Right now I am exhausted, and feeling kind of icky from the flight, so I'm relaxing and watching Deadwood. My mom came over and cleaned my kitchen while I was gone, which is totally weird, but I appreciate it, that's one thing that I don't have to feel guilty for not doing now that I'm back home. I am supremely happy to be able to sleep in my own bed tonight. I am totally stoked that I got the chance to go and play such an amazing group of women. Roller derby rocks, and stuff like this makes all the hard work and missing my friends seem kind of worth it.
