Haven't been home long enough to do much of anything other than shower and sleep lately, so my normally cluttered home has descended to a state of chaos that is truly remarkable. One of these days I need to roll my sleeves up and get the place to a state that I can then have someone come in and just do the heavy scrubbing and cleaning for me. It seems decadent, but at this point I have no time and a little bit of money, so it might be more effective to throw money at the problem instead of constantly being stressed out about not being able to do it myself.
Tonight is my second rowing class, in which I might actually get to do some rowing (either on the machine or in the indoor tank). After that is a meeting with
bohunk to plan a tiki party and have drinks and fries. I might turn into a pumpkin really early, since last night I stayed out WAY too late. The concert ended at a reasonable time, but we all migrated over to a bar to chat and before long it was this morning and far past time to go home. Waking up this morning was not a whole lot of fun.
The show last night was fantastic. I've seen a lot of reunion shows, because I am retarded and stuck in the past (I also love tribute bands for the same reason), and this one was one of the better ones. I thought Sting's voice actually sounded better than I remembered, although one of my friends said that he wasn't hitting quite as many high notes as he used to. Sting doesn't look much different, but Andy and Stuart haven't weathered the years as well. They're still great musicians, though, and I suppose they should be cut some slack on their looks because they're in their 50s. The show lasted a decent amount of time in my opinion (no hour long sets like some other bands I could mention, cough, Bauhaus, cough) with 2 encores, and a promise to return to Seattle soon. Word on the street is that if the tour goes well, they'll start recording and touring as a band again, which seems to be the thing to do these days. I always call these reunion tours the "We have to pay our mortgages" tours in jest, but I'm actually glad that these bands get back together for whatever reason. Most bands skipped Honolulu, or I just missed out back in the 80s, so it's great getting another chance to see bands from my youth. It is even more awesome that my company bought a bunch of tickets for this show, because I seriously couldn't justify $90 plus fees for nosebleed seats. (Okay, not quite nosebleed, but not really close, either.) I wonder what other shows we might be able to finagle? I've got dibs on Bowie and U2 if those ever come up, but I'm not holding my breath.
