weight loss rambling alert: read at your own risk

So it's been a week since I started this whole diet thing, and it's been going pretty well. I knew that I wasn't eating quite enough of the right things at the right times, but this morning at my weigh-in/counseling session, we sorted most of that out. They of course, want me to buy their protein bars, which I abhor, but I've got some other things I can eat instead. Most of the food is stuff that I'm supposed to prepare myself, so the bars and snacks and stuff wasn't making up the bulk of my food anyway. I think the main problem was that they don't really understand just how much exercise I actually do. I need to eat after practice in the evening, even if I'm "supposed to be" done eating for the day. Okay, so it shouldn't be several mojitos and an empanadilla at La Isla, but I can be adaptable.

I did cheat, but I was careful to be moderate, and I wrote every damn thing down, even the Cheetos. At today's weigh in, I'd lost 3.5 pounds. I'm only counting it as 3, because I'm tracking in whole numbers, but damn, did it feel good. I know that I can't expect to continue losing at the same rate, but having a big success right at the beginning is really encouraging.

Also, my second favorite pair of jeans no longer fit like a sausage casing. Hooray!

First, off...Great start!!

Secondly, I break the "Don't eat late at night" rule almost every night and am still managing to shave off about a pound/month as I work towards my goal. I haven't been tracking what I eat but rather how often I work out and that's been totally working for me. But, ya know, ymmv.

Lemme know when you want your dress back. :-)

Same here. I just put the fade on a post-workout PB&J and it saved my life. Honestly, the hardest thing to cut back on has been the booze.

And I agree with Foxy -- 3.5 pounds in a week is epic. Keep on rockin' it!

i'm proud of you. this is hard. especially when you have to be so strict. i'm kicking and screaming my way into just flat out 100% doing it right. my calorie counting and exercise isn't giving me the results i want. it's hard. you're gonna do great. 3.5 lbs in a week is SPECTACULAR.
